State Testing - April 29 - May 20, 2014

ACT Aspire

Alabama is the first state to administer the ACT Aspire to students in grades 3-8

ACT has developed ACT Aspire—the first digital, longitudinal assessment system to fully connect student performance from elementary grades through high school. ACT Aspire will provide educators and parents with the insights they need to help students get and stay on track by better connecting assessment to teaching and learning.

ACT Aspire includes summative assessments that measure how much students have learned over time, as well as aligned classroom-based assessments that help educators better understand students' learning needs in individual classes throughout the school year. The aligned assessments will inform teachers about students' progress toward specific learning standards, so they can better tailor their instruction and resources to help students learn.

ACT Aspire assesses student readiness in English, math, reading, science, and writing.

ACT Aspire incoporates multiple question types, including constructed response, selected response, and technology-enhanced items to better assess student knowledge and provide more meaningful insights.

The ALSDE Spring Testing Window of ACT Aspire is Monday, April 28th-Friday, May 23rd, 2014. For MCPSS, Reading & Math must be completed by Friday, May 16, 2014.
