Special Author Roger Reid

Dear Parents,

We take pleasure in sharing that Roger Reid, author of a very special

young adult novel, called Longleaf, will be joining us on November

16, at 6:00PM for a student presentation on his newest book, called Space.

Mr. Reid is a writer and producer for the popular Alabama Public

Television series Discovering Alabama. His two works of fiction

have been acclaimed for the unique way in which they combine

a fast-paced adventure story with scientific fact about our natural

environment. Space has recently been selected as an Alabama

Department of Education "Emphasis on Reading" title.

Roger Reid has made dozens of successful presentations to school

children across the South. His programs are a lively combination of

readings from his books, discussion about the writing process, and

an interactive presentation about the history and environmental

significance of the longleaf pine ecosystem (Longleaf) as well as

astronomic facts and background on rocket science (Space). Time

for Q&A follows. Copies of Longleaf and Space will be available for

purchase by your child and can be autographed by the author on

the day of the presentation. You can reserve a copy for your child

by returning this form to school prior to November 16 with a cash

payment or check.
